Your Questions Answered

Find answers to common questions about the XT10 IntelliScope, from initial setup to its observing capabilities and maintenance, helping you make an informed decision.
Yes, the XT10 comes with a set of two eyepieces, a 2x Barlow lens, a finder scope, and a collimation tool. This allows you to start observing the Moon, planets, and brighter deep-sky objects on your first night.
The IntelliScope system uses a digital encoder to track the telescope’s position. You align it to a few known stars, and the hand controller then guides you to thousands of objects by telling you which way to move the tube.
The Optical Tube Assembly weighs about 35 pounds (15.9 kg). The Dobsonian base is sturdy and remains stationary during use, making it stable for observation, though it will require two people to carry to a viewing site.
Like all Newtonian reflectors, occasional collimation (mirror alignment) is needed for optimal performance. The included collimation cap and straightforward optical design make this a simple, five-minute process every few uses.
The 10-inch f/4.7 mirror provides an effective light-gathering power about 900 times that of the human eye. This allows you to see subtle details in planetary atmospheres and resolve faint, distant star clusters and galaxies.
The included accessories and IntelliScope database are excellent for learning the sky. Its manual Dobsonian mount also teaches fundamental observational skills, making it a powerful educational tool that grows with your experience.
